When we started Five Good Friends, we could see the challenges the home care sector was facing. We wanted to ensure we designed a completely different service. One that people would love. One that truly had the customer and their family at the centre.

To do this, we started by asking a fundamentally different question:
"Why do people live wonderfully long, engaged and rich lives in the homes and communities they love?"

The answer inspired our purpose
In the healthiest regions of the world - the Blue Zones- people tend to share one thing in common: a strong circle of at least five good friends. This understanding is not only reflected in our name – it is our guiding philosophy.

Personalised care: matching Helpers with Members
At Five Good Friends, we put a premium on matching. Instead of focusing on services and tasks, we talk to families to understand what type of person they would look forward to having in their home.
Getting the match right takes a little time. There might even be false starts but we've been told by our Members that taking a little bit of time to get it right is worth it. In fact, data shows that our average Member/Helper relationships last over a year, with several as long as five years or more.
Care works best when it feels familiar. We provide free learning and development to Helpers, so if a Member's needs change, their Helper can upskill and continue supporting them.

Using technology to make us more human
As Australia’s first technology-enabled, data driven home care provider, we use technology purposefully, to enhance outcomes for our Members. Each Member has a personalised digital help plan that captures their needs, goals and preferences. This can be reviewed in our easy-to-use app that also provides Members, and their families with oversight of their budget and schedule, and enables direct communication with their care team.
Our advanced care monitoring technology works quietly in the background, tracking wellbeing and flagging any potential concerns early.
